A dusty little corner of the Internet: electronics, computer hardware and software, general aviation, 1980's Mopars, and related sundry.
This is my personal website that primarily documents various hobby-related projects. My interests hover loosely around electronics, computer hardware and software, general avaition, and late-1980's turbo Mopars (the cars I've owned since are just not that interesting). Information is arranged by category using the links above and the blog feed is narrowed as you drill down on a topic. The content herein was created by a human, some of which dating as far back as 1996. Please excuse the inevitable typos and grammatical errors. Much of it feels rather long in the tooth at this point, but I am keeping it around for posterity.
Ruß is a play on my first name: the Eszett (ß) can also be written as "ss". It's an inside joke from high school German class. Directly translated, Ruß means "soot" and Ecke means "corner" so technically this website is called "soot corner". Prior to 2026, this site was WordPress blog called "metaruss" (which somehow seemed clever at the time). Before 2008, it was an old school static site hosted at various free hosting services. Some further historical information can be found here.
I am an embedded software developer by trade (my LinkedIn profile), though I originally went to school for Electrical Engineering. If you are considering a career in software development today, I recommend investigating other paths. I scratch my creative itch through hobby-related projects, some of which are documented on this site.
